Message from the founder

In today’s world, technology and customer requirements change faster than traditional manufacturing can keep up. Long lead times, high tooling costs and large minimum orders make it difficult for many businesses to get the parts they actually need.

The Print Foundry was created to solve that problem. We’re introducing a more flexible way of manufacturing to the South African market - Manufacturing as a Service (MaaS) - built on industrial additive manufacturing and high-quality 3D printers.

By producing parts on demand, in the quantities required, we open up manufacturing to small and medium businesses that previously couldn’t justify the upfront investment. You get access to production-grade components without the burden of owning machines, funding moulds or carrying excess stock.

Why manufacturing as a service (MaaS)

Manufacturing-as-a-Service (MaaS) means you don’t own machines, tools or moulds, you access manufacturing capacity as a service when you need it. Your parts live as digital files, and we produce them on demand.

MaaS replaces fixed tooling and large orders with agile, digital production. By using additive manufacturing, we manufacture only what’s needed, in the quantities you choose, while still delivering robust, real-world components.

In practice this means:
– No upfront spend on moulds or tooling
– Low to medium batch sizes are viable (from a handful of parts to thousands)
– Design changes are easy – update the file, not the tool
– Less cash trapped in slow-moving stock and obsolete parts
